Start your dedicated server in rescue mode

l'équipe PulseHeberg Updated by l'équipe PulseHeberg

As a result of a wrong manipulation (kernel modification, deletion of a system file, etc), it can happen that you damage the operating system of your dedicated server. In this situation, it is possible that your dedicated server cannot start at all.

In such a situation, our support team unfortunately cannot assist you. We do not have access to your dedicated server, for technical reasons as well as for reasons of confidentiality of your data. However, you have on your management panel, everything you need to start a rescue system on your dedicated server, to regain access to your data, and to repair your dedicated server.

If your dedicated server contains critical data, we strongly recommend that you use a professional, or anyone else with advanced skills on Linux systems. Any bad action performed in rescue can make your data completely unrecoverable.

Start the dedicated server in rescue mode

Go to the management panel of your dedicated server and click on the Rescue Mode button:

It then appears a pop-up that just needs to be completed:

By default our panel starts your dedicated server on the Grml backup system and generates a password. Don't forget to write it down.

PTo confirm the switch to rescue mode, click on Start rescue.

Switching to rescue mode takes about 10 minutes
